Originally published in Sweden in 1898, this book remained virtually unknown to English-speaking audiences for over a century. While other exploration accounts became part of Patagonia's history, Otto Nordenskjöld's narrative was obscured by the language barrier. This edition brings that work back into circulation for the first time, offering a new perspective on Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia during one of the most pivotal moments in their history.

Between 1895 and 1897, at just 25 years old, Otto Nordenskjöld traveled through Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia, driven by a desire to understand a territory that was still almost unknown to European science. He observed the geology, flora, and fauna, recorded the lives of the indigenous peoples, lived alongside local guides, ranchers, and settlers, and witnessed a period of profound social and cultural transformations in the far south.

This edition brings back to Spanish, for the first time, a fundamental work that invites us to revisit the history of Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia, enriching it with new voices and uncovering a past that long remained beyond our reach.
